2013: The team captain took it to team hot pants on Friday but Luke's antics got the better of him on Saturday morning. After a tough front 9 on Blackshire, he came storming back before a big collapse on 15 that could have cost Lombardo the Ryder Cup.
2014: Nathan was rattled right out of the gate by Mel's trash talking. He had a rough weekend on the course. He did win a couple skins on Fridays to get into the prize money but that prize money was surely spent replenishing the 45 balls he lost in the three rounds.
2015: Nathan turned in a much needed great effort in 2015 following his 0-3 performance in 2014. In an intense captain's match on Friday afternoon Nathan mounted a back 9 comeback for a victory. After battling out a tie on Saturday morning, Nathan came through in the clutch by sinking a putt on the 18th hole to knock off his twirp of a brother Brandon in the 1 on 1 captain's match.
2016: Nathan suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Captain’s Scramble against Brandon and Patty thanks to little help from his partner Searge. Luckily, he had a gimme match on Saturday morning playing against Kevin and LVP Luke. Confidence was high heading into the 1 on 1 match against Brandon but Brandon was on fire and Nathan was on FireBall. It didn’t help matters that he had to carry along his playing partner Dan-o who was getting demolished by Zach. He eventually lost 6&4 to his brother.
2017: Nathan had what looked to be a breakout year, until having to be paired with Dano in the final round. Sarge and Nathan cruised through the opening round against a weak Cobra Kai matchup of Patty and Brandon. Saturday morning was an up and down day, having to contest with the likes of Dever, Zach and Jason. The win was more of a babysitting job than a golf contest. Saturday afternoon, the rivaled contest against Brandon was a tough one from the start having to carry over the morning babysitting session for Dano in the afternoon. Considering the 500+ golf shots hit in the round, Nathan almost pulled out the perfect weekend, but fell just short. With 2018 a year of injury, 2019 will be the strong comeback of the Lombardo captain.
2018: This was a tough year for the Lombardo captain. Nathan had an unfortunate Achilles injury that put the captain on the sidelines. With the fearless captain out, the Cobra Kai took a 5-1 lead on Friday and never looked back, resulting on some re-thinking on how to become competitive again for 2019.
2019: Nathan unselfishly paired himself with Dano to kick off the Ryder Cup, and as expected, did not win. He bounced back with Ken S. as his partner in the Saturday morning round before melting down on the second 18 against cousin Steve.
2020 COVID Cup: In a reprieve from the standard Ryder Cup format, Nathan and Brandon joined forces with Statenstache and Dano to form the formidable Perkis Power team. Unfortunately, the team was not too formidable, and Nathan was swept in all his matches. Most notably, losing by 11 points in his final match with Dano.
2021: Nathan had a rough year individually AND as the team captain of Lombardo. He went 0-3 in his matches, selflessly pairing himself with Kyle Eckles (LVP) in round 1, losing to the Cobra Kai captain and Zach. A difficult defeat to swallow no doubt. Saturday morning had higher hopes pairing himself with Dan Morrell. The duo was up 1 in to the turn with a neck and neck battle until the bitter end. They went in to 18 all square, but couldn't find a way to hold on as Patty and Casey birdied hole 18 to win the match. Nathan's 1 on 1 match was against Patty. Nathan started out losing the first 3 holes, but battled back to all square by the turn. He was 1UP through 13, and then lost holes 14, 16, and 17 all but sealing his defeat. He was lucky that he kept it somewhat close in the final two matches and that Kyle was there, otherwise, his first LVP could have been in sight.
2022: The Captain's match started out with high hopes and ended in a tight loss. The Cobra Kai captains were too much in the end. This point was a huge one in the end leading to Cobra Kai's victory overall. The Lombardo captain turned it around on Saturday morning with Jeremy and smoked Casey and Ken, pretty much ending the match within the first 5 holes. Nathan's 1 on 1 match against cousin Steve came down to the wire. Nathan was down 1 at the turn. He fought back to all square going in to hole 17, where the wheels came off and lost both hole 17 and 18. This was the beginning of the end for the Lombardo team.
2023: The Lombardo Captain was hoping his opening pairing with Zale was going to get his weekend kicked off right, but he ran into the dynamic Marc Loding and Dever Cobra Kai duo. Apparently, Marc is WAY better than his brother Dano. Nathan then paired up with his pal, Nick and were able to take down the two worst players on Cobra Kai, barely squeaking out a victory. Nathan's 1 v 1 matchup was against the newcomer Andy M, where Nathan got out to an early lead. Andy was able to crawl back, up 1 at the turn. It went back and forth into the back nine, with a 7 beating an 8 on hole 16 all but sealing the deal for Andy. Nathan won 17 but wasn't able to bring it back to AS on 18 losing the match by 1.
Player Bio
Nathan is the fearless leader of Team Lombardo. Tight shirts and tight fairways are his specialty. He smashes the ball almost as well as he smashes drinks and is very tough to rattle unless of course he is playing against one of the Kendziorski's.
Ryder Cup Highlight
Nathan's Ryder Cup highlight came on the inaugural round when he and his partner Eric decisively dismantled Kevin and Andy in the 2 man scramble. An honorable mention highlight would be the the major comeback he made in 2013 in the 1 v 1 match against his brother Brandon. After being down 4 holes on the back 9, Nathan surged back to tie the match going into the 18th hole.
Fun Fact
Nathan's most commonly used club and most effective is actually his 2 1/4 wood.
