2015: He teamed up with another rookie for his first Ryder Cup match but proved to be a solid contributor. He was able to win two of his three matches and his only loss came when he had to carry his worthless partner Brandon around for 18 holes.
2016: A solid win on Friday got his weekend off to a good start. However he then ran unto the buzzsaw that was the team of Brad and Eric and got destroyed 6&5. The doctor’s medicinal herbs kicked in on the final 18 in a back and forth match with Troy. However the Bandit dropped a hole on 17 with a bogey and was unable to win the 18th hole losing his match 1 DOWN.
2017: Dr. Bandit had the impossible task of playing with Kevin in the first round of a Ryder Cup. Of course Kevin refused to wake up and play the practice round Friday morning. They took a 3&1 loss to Junks and Dan Friday afternoon. He teamed up with Mel Saturday morning to win a pivotal match against Eric and Kyle on the 18th hole. Then, in a vicious rematch with Troy, he was able to hold off the effects of everything and finish Staten off on the 18th hole for a 2-1 record and two huge wins securing the Cobra Kai victory.
2018: In 2018, the Bandit came out firing with a big upset over self-proclaimed Golf God Searge on Friday afternoon to set the tone for the weekend. Saturday morning he teamed up with Barkeley to take down another top Lombardo golfer Eric. He got a little too comfortable after those two victories. He couldn’t withstand the torture of riding in a cart with Zach and let rookie Rick mop the floor with him in the 1 on 1.
2019: The overarching thought is that Dave, being a Dr. spends most of his time on the golf course and is going to rapidly move up the ranks on the Cobra Kai team. In the first round match, those thoughts seemed to be turning to truth with an opening round 70 teamed up with CLo. However, Saturday was a whole different story. To be fair, I’m not sure if there was much he could do teaming up with Patty in the morning. Although I’m sure they could have made it a little closer than 7&6. Ready to impress everyone on Saturday afternoon, Dave was poised to take down first timer Ken Staten. That is, until he stepped onto the golf course. The Bandit came out and fired a 54 on the front 9 losing 6 of the first 7 holes. What a hero!
The Bandit will be a great addition to the Lietke Ryder Cup. His monstrous stature of 5'4 135 lbs doesn't provide him with a lot of raw power on the course. But his binge drinking experience paired with his discipline and focus (from his Jewish heritage) makes him a very solid weapon for the Cobra Kai. Plus, if anyone knows how to get under the skin of the Lombardo captain, it is the Bandit.
Ryder Cup Highlight
After losing to Troy in the Saturday best ball matchup, things weren't looking good for his 1 on1 matchup. However, it turns out ditching his loser partner Brandon was able to propel him over the top as he knocked off a hammered Troy to help get the Cobra Kai the big comeback victory.
The Bandit is actually a registered doctor which is good to have in the group. He will be able to diagnose alcohol poisoning and will likely offer to check the group for hernias before we hit the course. Beware!
