2014: Dragging Mel around Friday and Brandon around Saturday morning was tough enough. But then he managed to outduel Eric in what sounded like one of the best matches of the year. As if Barkeley doesn't sweat enough on his own, I'm sure it was flowing during the championship holes. He took some prize money with a long drive and closest to the pin. He also had about 65 dollars worth of empty beer cans to return to the store.
2015: In a match he will never live down, the all-great Barkeley couldn't put away Troy and the hopeless Dan-o. It looked like he was in a for a bad weekend but was able to help C-Lo knock off Eric and Searge Saturday morning and battled to another draw with Eric on Saturday afternoon.
2016: For the third straight year Barkeley was paired with Mel for the Friday Scramble around. In 2014, they won 5&4. In 2015, they tied to Troy and Dan-o. In 2016, in a key rematch, they were beaten 4&2. The steady decline is obvious over the three years. He bounced back Saturday morning with a victory over Searge and Troy and then once again battled Eric the whole way until he snapped on number 18 and promptly stormed back to the condos eat some steaks.
2017: Barkeley was assigned the difficult task of getting a victory with Zach as his partner on Friday afternoon and he did exactly that with a 2&1 narrow victory. He was paired up with Brad Saturday morning but was simply manhandled by the team of Searge and Dan to the tune of a 5&4 defeat. But he bounced back in the afternoon and won a big swing match against Eric 7&6 to help secure the 2017 Ryder Cup for the Cobra Kai. 2018: A giant letdown in the first round for Barkeley as he and Luke lost to Eric and Andrew on the 18th hole for the Cobra Kai’s only Friday loss. On Saturday morning, he teamed up with the doctor, whose medical opinion of Barkeley is not a good one. But they paired together very well and took down Jason and Eric 4&2. Riding in the cart with captain Brandon helped get Barkeley’s game together as he was way too much to handle for Dan in the 1 on 1 match.
2019: Barkeley came out of his annual hibernation to get 100 beers and come play some golf. He teamed up with Steve in the first round. This team outright frightened Jason and they were able to get a 3&2 victory. He started off slow on Saturday morning suffering a 3&1 loss to Searge and Zale. I’m sure there were some bad bounces or something unfair that caused his loss though. On Saturday afternoon, the captains paired Zach with Barkeley since he’s told everyone how good of a coach and partner he is. However being paired with Zach was too much for him to handle as that is all anyone heard about the rest of the trip. However, Barkeley was in the final pairing on Saturday afternoon in a very tight match against the Statenstache. No one knew it at the time but his par on 18 winning the hole and winning the match 1UP is the full point needed for Cobra Kai to RETAIN THE RYDER CUP!
2021-2022: Barkeley has been unable to attend the Ryder Cup.
Player Bio
Barkeley is a big guy, an even bigger hitter, and an even bigger drinker. He is one of the best golfers on the Cobra Kai team. Low to mid 80s are not only his golf average, but the expected number of beers per round for this guy. You will often hear him late into the night telling stories. But you will always see him bright and early at breakfast as this guy never misses a meal.
Ryder Cup Highlight
Barkeley's Ryder Cup highlight comes in 2014 when he battled Eric in a tremendous 1 v. 1 match in the second to last group. Barkeley was eventually able to battle his way to the victory on the 17th green. This was the point that clinched the Ryder Cup for the Cobra Kai and helped earn Barkeley the MVP award for the year.
Fun Fact
Barkeley is the best at everything in the world……pound for pound. Just ask him. He usually golfs well in northern Michigan and is responsible for several Big Foot sightings.
