Yearly Summary
2013: Whitest pants ever! Kevin's biggest moment came Saturday morning, keeping Zach from quitting golf and being able to gut out a big point. The wheels came off on Saturday afternoon as the rainstorm was too much for his white pants.
2014: Kevin made a big statement to the Cobra Kai by not wearing his team shirt nor his white pants all weekend. After riding C-Lo's coattails to a victory Friday, Kevin managed half a point against the dream team of Dan-o and Jason, but then suffered a loss to Zale on the final 18. Kevin did sink a match tying putt on 18 Saturday morning to earn that half point. However, the putt was for a crowd pleasing 8.
2015: Kevin got his ass absolutely handed to him through the first two round in the 2015 Ryder Cup. He was trending toward a zero point performance until he was able to hold off a surging, drunk, sunburnt Jason on Saturday afternoon.
2016: After racking up a loss with the Cobra Kai’s best golfer on Friday he was paired with the eventual LVP Saturday morning and suffered a beatdown from Nathan and Junks. There was serious LVP pressure at the turn Saturday afternoon when Jason was leading him by two holes. However, the sunburn set in on Jason and Kevin was able to win 4 out of the last 5 holes to get his lone W on the weekend.
2017: To put into perspective how effective Kevin is as a golfer, Dave Santini hadn’t lost a scramble match in the history of the Ryder Cup, but Kevin was going to put an end to that. He dragged the Bandit down low enough to suffer a 3&1 loss. Following that up was the EXCRUCIATING task of waking up before noon. Kevin almost had to forfeit the morning match but Zach carried him through the battle but they fell short on the 18th hole. With LVP in his grasp, he managed to put together a back 9 for the ages to fend a fierce competitor in Jason (sarcasm) to scratch out a victory.
2018: Kevin came out firing in 2018 with partner Brandon. He carried Brandon most of the way to take down two Lodings (the dumb ones). But he had some trouble riding in a cart with Luke on Friday morning. They didn’t mesh well and let Dan-o and Rick take them down. At the turn Kevin threw his vegan diet out the window and wolfed down some meat trying to right the ship. He faced off against rookie Ty but lost a tough one coming down to the 18th hole.
2019: Kevin was unable to attend Ryder Cup this year.
2021: Kevin was unable to attend Ryder Cup this year, but will be back in 2022!
2022: Kevin's return to the Ryder Cup was actually quite a successful outing. He was able to pair up with Brad in the opening scramble round and absolutely destroyed Jason and Jeremy. Saturday morning Kevin paired up with Clo against the Lombardo pairing of Statenstache and Dan M. It was a tough match and Kevin showed up ready to play. He actually held his own and used some of his shots. Clo dialed it in on the back nine and was able to turn the tide for Cobra Kai and Kevin. Kevin's 1v1 matchup was against his favorite person, and prior roommate, Kyle. The front nine was a back and forth match with Kevin finding himself up 1 at the turn. Kevin was up 3 through 14 holes, and then the wheels fell off. Kyle fought back and was able to win the final 4 holes to take the match right out from under Kevin, tampering Kevin's thoughts of being the Cobra Kai MVP.
2023: Dever had an eventful trip to the Ryder Cup. The airline lost his clubs, so he was off to a great start. However, he was able to team up with Marc and convincingly take down Nathan and Zale in the first round. He then teamed up with powerhouse Casey to take down Jeremy and Kyle, off to a 2-0 start! His luck ran out though in the 1 v 1 against Dano, largely due to the fact that he was just on the phone with Delta the entire time instead of paying attention to golf.
Player Bio
Kevin is a self proclaimed terrific golfer. When you see him in the clubhouse, you would think nothing different with his expensive clothes, bright white pants, and self cooling towels. You may even overhear him telling stories of the 87 he shot the week prior. But, when you see him on the course, it is a different story. He is always seen slamming Rum, dribbling drives about 8 yards, cranking Top Gun music.
Ryder Cup Highlight
In the 2014 Ryder Cup, the featured best ball match contained some of the finest golfers in all of Michigan. Kevin and Zach battled Jason and Dan-o in a match for the ages. It took about 6 hours but that's how long golf takes when all 4 guys take 135 shots each. It was looking grim for the Cobra Kai until Kevin sank a 10 foot putt on the 18th green (for an 8) to preserve a tie and get the Cobra Kai a much needed half point.
Fun Fact
There is a common phrase that everyone that lives in California is in shape. That is no longer true as Kevin migrated out west. Kevin will be travelling over 3,000 miles for this years Ryder Cup, which is ironic since that is the same amount of shots he will take in the three rounds of the Ryder Cup.
