2013: Dan-o was solely responsible for the consumption of about 50 beers, undertipping cart girls, and being an accessory to destroying a fence. He managed to eek out the weekend with 0 points contributed. However, he did get the DJ to play his favorite song (at the time) 'Valerie' to close down the bar Saturday night.
2014: It's a good thing Dan-o got his trash talking done early because by the end of the weekend he had nothing to talk about after being smoked by Zach. Plus, he physically couldn't talk by Saturday night.
2015: Dan-o contributed one of the biggest shocks of the Ryder Cup last year as he earned half a point against the Cobra Kai top scramble team of Mel and Barkeley. Even more impressive he walked away from the course without Barkeley bashing his head in. Saturday afternoon was another epic battle between Zach and Dan-o. He had taken the early lead until the whiskey/ginger (easy on the ginger) started to sink in. Zach slowly took over until Dan-o battled the elements and started making a comeback. Refusing to speak a coherent sentence in the last 5 holes, Dan-o battled back and after swimming through the pond to hit his ball, he had a 4 foot putt to earn half a point against Zach and promptly missed it by about 10 feet.
2016: NBBTY (Nothing but Beer This Year) was the philosophy Dan-o was flying by in 2016. It was working too. A big win on Friday over Barkeley and senile Mel got the confidence soaring. It was soaring so high that Dan-o dipped into some bubblers on Friday night. He was spotted again on the first tee drinking bloody mary’s. However he still delivered a punishing victory on Saturday morning. He was primed for a 3-0 effort but as he humbly stated, “62 just ain’t gonna cut it today”. Dan-o eventually had to throw in the towel and literally quit when he repeatedly swung and missed the ball on hole 15. A career best 2-1 performance but still can’t get the taste of Fireball and Zach out of his mouth.
2017: The year of the Cabernet infused shorts. Dano and Staten sneaked out a win a second year in a row in their “ham and egg” scramble team. Going in to Friday night, it was looking like a year of redemption for Dano. After an evening of the Cobra Kai captain sneaking in bubbler shots all evening, Dano woke in his normal state with an undefeated Zale as his partner. What could go wrong? Well…just about everything. Dano handed Zale his first ever defeat. It was during this match, the box of Cabernet sneaked in to Dano’s cart. Going in to Saturday afternoon, Dano was in prime form (20 drinks in) to take on his arch-nemesis Zach. The front nine went exceptionally well. So well, Dano bet Zach $100 he would beat him on the back nine. Not only did he lose the $100 by shooting an 80, he also earned his 2nd LVP award in just 5 years.
2018: The reigning LVP of Team Lombardo came back in 2018 ready to be a better Dan. Compared to 2017, anything would be better. Dano got paired with his cousin Ty for the opening Scramble round. It was a total meltdown from the beginning. Down 4 at the turn, Brandon and Dever never looked back. Saturday morning started with a back and forth match, with Dano and Rick somehow holding it together on the back nine to beat Dever and Luke. The afternoon round paired Dano with a new competitor, Mr. Casey Jenson. Dano’s opening two holes produced a total of 20 strokes. Somehow, he par-ed the Par 3 – 3rd hole to get a stroke back. By hole 12, the match was AS. While Dano lost holes 13 & 14, he stunned everyone by shooting a back-nine 56. What will 2019 have in store for Dano? Has getting married changed him?
2019: The answer is no, getting married did not change Dano in 2019. Although the outstanding ham and egg scramble team of Staten and Dano were back at it in prime fashion in 2019, this was the only highlight of Dano's year. Dano and Troy beat the Cobra Kai caption and Cobra Kai ace, C-Lo in style, shooting par on the first 5 holes and shooting a 79. Dano had a new 1v1 challenger in Mel, but he was unable to step up to the new and improved competition. He was down 3 at the turn after recording 4-8s and a 9 in the first 9 holes. He was never able to hold on, shooting a 117 to Mel's 102.
2020: Dano was a part of the stellar Perkis Power, and actually played quite well, until he was paired with Nathan. Dano and Staten weren't able to ham and egg there way through the formidable Searge and Ken M. duo, but still shot a respectable 77 in route to a 1-stroke loss. Dano is not able to attend Ryder Cup 2021 due to the birth of his first child, Dano Jr. We look forward to his return in 2022 as a daddy.
2021: Sweet Sylvia was born in 2021 and has kept Dano somewhat in align. Dano will be part of the featured match against EB in 2022 trying to eek out his first Ryder Cup win.
2022: Dano returned to the Ryder Cup after year hiatus, and he came back with a 2-win year. He paired up and reunited with the dynamic "Ham and Egg" duo of Statenstache and Dano. Of course it ended in a win. Dano paired up with his buddy Scott on Saturday morning and clearly the effects of Friday night did not sit well with the pair. They got slaughtered. Danos one on one match was touted as one of the best matchups of the day, even external parties had bets wagered on this one. With a combined score of 224 strokes between the two contenders, Dano was able to take down EB and his 5-iron.
2023: Dano continues to be the Lombardo hidden weapon as his game has been improving over the years. Friday afternoon, he was paired with the eventual MVP, Santini, where they easily took down another Loding (Ty) and Gordo. Dano was barely able to wake up on Saturday morning and was paired with Eric against Dano's brother Marc and the other Santini. Marc and David were too much for the pairing of Eric and Dano. Let's be honest, pairing Eric with Dano is a recipe for Eric becoming the most annoyed person on the course, which I'mo sure led to this loss. Dano was ready for a bounce back in his Saturday afternoon match against Dever. Given Dano's track record in the 1v1s, Dever came in with confidence he would be winning this match. The match started out fairly even through 4 holes, but hols 5-8 were Dano's, rattling off 3 pars on those 4 holes. Dano was up 3 at the turn and never looked back. The match was won on hole 14, where Dano then proceeded to pound Gin and score 10s on 15 and 16, but it didn't matter at that point. Overall, Dano had a great bounce back sealing his 2nd 1v1 victory in a row.
Player Bio
One of the bottom end golfers on Lombardo, Dan-o has struggled in the past to pick up points on the course and speak coherent words after the sun goes down. There is a good chance he will be late for his morning tee time Saturday morning from binge drinking the night before. But, he will probably be sleeping on the ground near the first tee box so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Ryder Cup Highlight
Dan-o's Ryder Cup highlight needs no description as everyone will remember Dan-o swimming through the pond on the 18th hole in every effort to defeat his rival Zach. That moment was live in Ryder Cup glory forever.
Fun Fact
Dan-o is an avid gambler as long as it does not include money. He once lost a bet on a football game and had to sleep outside in a tent for a month (seriously).
